Privacy Policy - 9K Volume

1. Overview

9K Volume is a browser extension whose single purpose is to let users boost and fine-tune audio from browser tabs using local volume, equalization, balance, spatial, and related sound-processing controls.

Audio processing is performed locally on the user's device. 9K Volume does not record tab audio or send tab audio to external servers, analytics services, advertising services, or cloud processing services.

2. Permissions We Use

• activeTab: Allows 9K Volume to interact with the active tab after the user intentionally invokes the extension.
• storage: Stores extension settings locally, such as volume, EQ and Studio controls, profiles, theme, power preferences, and user-selected site-specific preferences.
• tabCapture: Used when tab-level audio processing is required. Captured tab audio is processed locally in real time and is not recorded or uploaded.
• offscreen: Hosts the local Web Audio processing engine during tab-capture sessions so processing can continue after the popup is closed.
• alarms: Supports local audio-session lifecycle and recovery checks when required. It is not used for analytics, tracking, or advertising.
• scripting: Allows packaged 9K Volume code to run in webpages and frames when required for local media processing and fullscreen coordination. 9K Volume does not download or execute remote code.
• Host permissions: Allow 9K Volume to provide its audio controls on websites where the user chooses to use the extension, including media embedded inside frames. These permissions are used only for the extension's audio processing and related compatibility functionality.

3. Website Content and Audio

To provide its audio controls, 9K Volume may access and process media associated with the webpage where the user activates the extension.

• Supported page media may be processed locally through the browser's Web Audio APIs.
• When tab-level processing is required, the browser's tab-capture capability may be used to process the tab's audio locally.
• Audio samples are used only for real-time audio processing and the extension's local visualizer.
• Tab audio is not recorded, saved as an audio file, uploaded, sold, or transmitted to 9K Studio or third parties.

4. Information Stored Locally

9K Volume uses Chrome's extension storage to remember settings selected by the user. Depending on the features you use, locally stored data may include:

• Volume level and extension state
• Equalizer and Studio settings
• Balance and other audio-control settings
• Saved audio profiles
• Theme and interface preferences
• Power preferences
• User-selected site-specific preferences or disabled-site entries

If a site-specific feature is used, the relevant website hostname or domain may be stored locally together with that preference. 9K Volume does not use this information to create a browsing-history profile and does not transmit it to our servers.

Locally stored settings remain in the browser profile until they are reset, cleared, or the extension is uninstalled, subject to the browser's own storage behavior.

5. Information We Do Not Collect

9K Volume does not operate an analytics or user-data backend.

We do not collect or transmit:

• Audio recordings
• Account credentials or passwords
• Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers through the extension
• Financial or payment information
• Health information
• Personal communications
• Location information
• Advertising identifiers
• Analytics events or behavioral telemetry
• Crash telemetry

6. Data Sharing and External Services

9K Volume does not:

• Sell user data
• Sell or share tab audio
• Send tab audio to external processing servers
• Use advertising SDKs or tracking pixels
• Use user data for personalized advertising
• Transfer user data for unrelated purposes
• Use remote code for extension functionality

7. Your Control

• Audio processing begins only through the extension's user-facing functionality.
• You can change audio and extension settings at any time through the 9K Volume interface.
• Power Off stops the extension's active audio-processing session and returns the tab to its normal audio state.
• You can remove locally stored extension settings by using available reset controls, clearing extension storage, or uninstalling 9K Volume.

8. Security

9K Volume is designed to process audio and store its settings locally within the browser environment. The extension does not maintain a central database containing users' tab audio or extension activity.

We recommend keeping your browser and operating system updated to receive current security fixes.

9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

9K Volume's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information accessed through Chrome APIs is used only to provide or improve 9K Volume's user-facing audio-control functionality and is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, or unrelated purposes.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be changed to reflect the current version.
